Crime is a path your character develops through play. Start with manageable activities, meet people and learn what the city offers. You do not need to arrive with a gang or an established criminal identity.
Prepare before taking a risk
- Read the server rules, especially the sections relevant to robberies, conflict and leaving an active scene.
- Keep enough money for ordinary needs so a failed attempt does not leave you without food or transport.
- Check your equipment, inventory space and a charged phone.
- Agree roles clearly if you are working with other players.
Equipment requirements and permission to attempt an action are separate from the rules governing the scene. A visible interaction does not make every use of it acceptable.
Start small and pay attention
Container break-ins and store robberies are examples of criminal activities in the server framework. They have their own equipment, interaction and completion requirements. Inspect the situation and follow the prompts when you encounter an opportunity; not every container or counter is a robbery target.
An action may be unavailable because the target is busy, on cooldown or because you are missing a requirement. Forcing repeated attempts will not remove those conditions. Read the feedback and allow a started action to resolve.
The location, contents and solution are part of the discovery. Ask questions through roleplay, explore and pay attention to information you receive in game.
Understand the outcome
A criminal attempt can attract police attention, consume supplies or end without a reward. Starting an interaction is not the same as successfully completing it. Check the result before assuming money, loot or XP has been awarded.
Progression also has more than one meaning: your character's XP, your organisation's reputation and your crafting skills do not all unlock the same things. Continue with Criminal Progression.
Build connections
You can begin learning without a gang. If you later join an organisation, learn its expectations and what access your rank provides. The Syndicate tablet supports organisation management; it is not required just to understand this guide.
Obtaining a tool from another player is different from learning to manufacture it yourself. Crafting Basics explains the workshop route without requiring every criminal character to become a crafter.
